First week with Elder Skidmore

So on Wednesday I got my new companion Elder Skidmore, he’s a great missionary and is super hard working. I want to talk about two cool experiences we had this past week. The first, on Wednesday. It was pretty close to when we had to go in, about 8:50 and we stopped and knocked on the door to a family that hasn’t come to church the last few months. The Dad answered and he told us it was actually really good timing, because his son’s dog was ill and they were going through a rough time. We talked for a little on the door step and he invited us to come back. It was really cool to see this brother recognize God’s love for him and his family.

The other experience was on Friday. We had just got done stopping by one of the Bishops house to introduce my companion. We walked by the Reck’s home and were prompted to stop in.
Brother Reck answered the door and said it wasn’t really a good time, Sister Reck was sick. My companion asked if she needed a blessing and Bro Reck said sure and invited us in. Brother Reck recently got the Melchizedek Priesthood a few weeks ago, which allows him to give blessings. He had never had the opportunity though. So we went over how to do it, and then he was able to bless his wife. It was a beautiful experience. They told us afterwards that they had both felt like calling us multiple times that day. Funny how the Spirit works.
